"I chose Nannies from the Heart because it is an awesome company that caters to the nanny's needs, as well as the family's needs. My interview with Rebecca showed me that she wanted the best for her employees and families, which is very important when working with children. I also found that it was very convenient to be able to respond to jobs that interested me by email. I like how I got a job that fits perfectly with my school schedule, and I also get to work with an amazing family that really cares about their child. I have had a great experience with Nannies from the Heart because it is such a flexible environment, and the families are wonderful that I have had the chance to work for thus far. Nannies from the Heart has made getting a fantastic, reliable job with children enjoyable for both the family and the nanny."

Nanny Orientations and Workshops and Socials

Orientation

All new nannies must sign up for an orientation within 30 days of being "approved" by NH. Orientations are conducted by Tiffani Allison. To RSVP for a scheduled orientation, contact tracy@nanniesfromtheheart.com

Workshops

In order to provide more support for our already naturally talented nannies, we are proud to announce monthly professional development nanny workshops. At least two evenings per month, our nannies will have the opportunity to participate in educational workshops on topics such as infant care, play for all ages, discipline, employer relations, tax obligations and special needs.

We look forward to offering these courses on a continuing basis so that every nanny can participate in whichever workshops fit their needs and the needs of the family they work for! Nannies from the Heart uses the Nanny Essentials curriculum from the Nanny Training Institute.

If you are a family, please encourage your nannies to sign up for these exciting workshops! Training certificates will be provided.

Scheduled Workshops and Socials

Please check back soon for the next workshop  and social schedule.

Some of our Workshop Classes

Bundles of Joy!
Toothless grins, chubby legs, gurgling and cooing…what could be more fun? After all, that perfectly describes all babies, right? HA!! Not so fast…join us for Bundles of Joy and learn tactics for dealing with babies, no matter what their mood. We’ll cover the fun stuff like age appropriate activities and what all babies need to thrive, but also go over serious issues like SIDS and Shaken Baby Syndrome. This workshop is a must for anyone caring for a child less than one year old.

Nanny 911
Are you struggling with temper tantrums? Is whining driving you nuts? Join NH as we discuss practical tactics for disciplining children of all ages.

The Professional Nanny
The International Nanny Association has a set of practices they recommend for all professional nannies. Find out what they are and how you can build great communication with your employer. You’ll also learn how to set boundaries with your employer and how we as an agency help you in that process. We’ll conclude by looking at a couple of sample nanny portfolios so you can get ideas for your own!

The Power of Play
Has anyone ever commented to you, “Wow, you’re so lucky; you get paid to play with kids all day!” We at NH know that is not the whole truth, but the truth is…there are so many opportunities for fun play! Join other nannies as we share ideas for fun things to do in Austin and go over why play is so important for children.

Household Employee Tax Obligations
Learn what you need to do to protect yourself as a professional nanny. You are not exempt from paying income tax, and the tax experts from Breedlove and Associates will be here to explain the process and answer any questions you may have. Even if you only do occasional babysitting, you will learn valuable tips from this workshop.

Special Needs
More and more of our families come to us with children with special needs. This workshop will cover three of the most prevalent needs we see at Nannies from the Heart: Downs Syndrome, ADD/ADHD and autism. Learn how best to work with all children with tips from our own clients.

Cooking With Kids
Come hungry as we explore fun way to get kids involved in cooking. Learn how to tie cooking into story time and make it a true learning experience. We will also discuss the new food pyramid, child portion sizes, and safety issues in the kitchen. Each participant will be asked to contribute a quick and easy recipe so that we can share ideas!

Caring for Kids with Diabetes
So many parents of diabetics are afraid to get a sitter for an afternoon or evening away. With this training led by Wendy Morgan, who has a daughter with juvenile diabetes, you will learn the basics of managing diabetes; thus giving these parents the option of a few hours of relief! Learn the importance of blood sugar levels and how to monitor them to make sure it is under control. Learn to recognize the signs of low or high blood sugar and what to do in those instances. Diabetes is extremely manageable, and with this workshop, you will be confident in your abilities to care for these kids!

Socials

Nanny socials are a great way to meet with your peers, share information and have a great time. Nannies from the Heart had its first social on April 28 with following socials throughout the summer.

Comments from attendees:
Tiffani, Thank you again for organizing the party last night. I had a lot of fun and can't wait until the next one!

Hey Tiffani! I had such a great time at the social and am SO in for the next one (which, of course, I vote we do once a month!)
~Heather

I had a great time at the social. I was glad to meet other nannies, since we all understand our day-to-day struggles at work. (My friends do not understand what I do.) Thanks!
~Michelle
